Merrrrrrry Christmas!

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

welp, I haven’t gotten to check in for a while.. so I figured the least I could do was to wish you all a Merry Christmas! here’s what’s going down in my life right now…

  • I’ve got a couple new business ideas in mind, which is nothing new. what sucks is that my real job gets in the way and I just don’t end up having time to do what I envision.
  • my real job is actually pretty great, I like the people I work with and for the most part I enjoy what I do. as much as I dislike going to work some days, I can’t imagine having a job I hated.
  • I’ve been spending a lot of my down time over the past couple months with my family. I’m blessed to have such an amazing family and that I live so close to them. I wish Dad lived closer and I don’t get to see him as much, but I will get to hang out with him for the next couple of days, which is sweet.
  • I bought myself some skis for Christmas, $700 total with boots/poles/etc. which isn’t too bad IMO. and I got to test them out on the first annual Brannigreen, with my bro and Justin & Kyle. there are some cute waitresses at Wintergreen, btw ;)
  • finally, Cody got me a Hines Ward jersey for Christmas, and I’m stoked since he’s totally my favorite player in the history of the NFL. then we snapped probably my favorite picture of my family:

Happy Holidays!

I heart cookies

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

there aren’t many things I remember from when I was very young. breaking my face was one of them, but I’ll save that for another day, because I remember a funnier one right now. when I was probably about 6 or 7, I was riding in my dad’s truck with him and Cody. this would make Cody about 4 or 5. we had been riding for a while and needed to replenish, so dad stopped at Hardee’s for us to grab a snack.

so, Cody and I decide on a nice Hardee’s cookie – our family is full of cookie monsters. Dad pays for it, they give him the cookie, and here the mistake was made – he gave it to Cody to divvy up between us.

Cody takes the cookie, and goes to break it in half. but he accidentally (or so he said!) broke off about 1/3 of it, so there was a huge piece and a small piece. Cody looks at the pieces, one in each hand. he looks at me. he looks back at the little pieces of cookie, and Dad and I watch intently, wondering how he will rectify this situation. finally, he comes to a conclusion – he reaches out his hand to me, drops the smaller piece in my hands, and chomps into his piece.

what a slacker! I will never forget how mad I was then, and how funny it is now to think what must have been going through his mind. I’ll never forget a memory like that.

chair-spinning

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

chair-spinning was a favorite activity of my circle of friends back in high school. chair-spinning was a common occurrence anywhere – classrooms, cafeterias.. even Senior Prom. for those of you unfamiliar with the sport, let me explain:

take a regular chair with four legs. put your hand on a top corner of the back of the chair. tilt the chair up so that only one leg is on the ground. start moving your hand in a circular motion. you can achieve such centrifugal force to kill someone if desired.

now that you have mastered this art, you can imagine what it’s like to see 5 or 6 young men in tuxedos chair-spinning on a dance floor. any time we heard the call out, “Hit It!”… we knew chair-spinning was in session!

Hit It!

Hit It!
